Country Music Legend George Jones Dies at 81

Nashville, TN

The world of Country Music is in mourning. Headlines all over the Internet, Newspapers and Television are saying the same thing: George Jones Dies at 81.

The country music legend whose lifelong career included over 150 hits including ‘White Lightning’, ‘ Who’s Gonna Fill There Shoes ‘  and “He Stopped Loving Her Today” passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center here in Nashville, TN.

Mr. Jones had been hospitalized since April 18 with irregular blood pressure and fever.

A press release from his long time good friend, Merle Haggard , said, “The world has lost the greatest country singer of all time. Amen.”

Mr. Jones’ close friend, Country Star Brad Paisley stated “My friend, the greatest singer of all time, has passed,”To those who knew him, our lives were full. To those of you who don’t: discover him now.”

Much has been written about “The Possum” and his struggles with Alcoholism, and its effects on his career and personal life. It is not my style to do that. I will leave that to the “professionals”. I just want to say “RIP Mr. Jones”…. and Thanks for the Great Music!

We dedicate this video we created from your badass song ‘Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes’ … TO YOU SIR! I know without a doubt that there  is some “pickn” going on in Heaven Tonight!

Please Say Hi to Johnny, Waylon and the rest of the Legends up there from us folks here in Nashville… and I just know y’all are enjoying catching up with each other tonight!

The music grew so many branches

With each new leaf and bough

Moving far away from it's roots

Maybe they'll play Ol' George now

The videos and glitzy shows

Lost their touch somehow

Until the feel didn't seem real

Maybe they'll play Ol' George now

I grew up when all the legends

Had mostly passed away

But there was still a voice that blew

All others clear away

And each new generation

Duly paid respect

But most every station

Were guilty of neglect

And I heard the news this morning

With a sad and furrowed brow

And I just sat there thinking

Maybe they'll play Ol' George now
